My Impressions
A tightly woven story with well defined characters. Martinez breathes life into the characters where the reader is carried step by step through the maze of the world he's created. In this he's created a nonstop roller coaster ride of intrigue, plots within plots, and almost insurmountable hurdles in his main character's quest to find her parents.
The journals are being translated with the use of magical glasses worn by an exiled writer which when he intrudes is a bit jarring. Told in first person, like most journals are written, is not my preferred reading, but I found this book action packed with very little lulls to catch a breath. It is a blow by blow accounting, literally.
Is it believable and can I suspense my disbelief for the 164- page journey, yep it did. Would I recommend this book to others? I have already. Grab your copy HERE. A bargain at any price, but $0.99 it's a steal.
